  • Slatted bench seat
  • 8 x rolls of different coloured wool
  • Scissors
You may have seen lampposts around your streets covered with knitting – it's part of a movement called "Guerilla knitting", which is about adding colour and character to inanimate objects. You could take this idea and apply it to furniture around your home – but instead of knitting, knot threads of yarn around the item, like we did with our bench. This can be a fun project to do on a cold winter weekend.

Step 1 Turn bench upside down and prop up on a pair of chairs.

Step 2 Wind alternating colours of wool around slats in varying widths and orders. To secure, tie the ends of each section of wool on the underside of the seat.

Step 3 Continue winding wool until slats are completely covered.
