Update a nook by painting drawers and a section of wall in a bold and graphic way.

Step 1.

Sand the drawers if required. Take a pencil and ruler and lightly draw a stripe along the top of the chest, continuing down the front of the drawers.

Step 2.

To make painting easier, remove the drawers and paint them individually, being careful to keep to the straight line.

Step 3.

You can vary the look by swapping the colours around. An easy way to do this is to flip one of the drawers (if the runners will allow it) in the chest before marking up.

Step 4.

Paint the drawers in two stages. Let the first stage dry, then mask edge of painted area with painter’s tape. Paint the other colour on.

Step 5.

We also painted our corner section of wall in the same orange colour to create a graphic nook. The addition of an empty frame on the wall completes the playful picture.
