Creative professionals help and inspire us to live beautiful lives – and here, we ask Aussie talents about what inspires them.
The architect: Eva-Marie Prineas, Architect Prineas
What are you currently working on? “Renovations! Given the economy, people are staying put and want to tailor their house to suit their lifestyle. In fact, I’m doing the same with my own house.”
Shining stars in the Australian design, art and creative worlds? “I am interested in young architects like Owen & Vokes in Queensland, Workshopped, who support emerging designers, and I love the work of artists Susan Norrie and Scott Baker.”
Where would you take an overseas visitor for breakfast, lunch, dinner? “Breakfast at Revolver in Annandale, NSW. Lunch at Pilu in Freshwater, NSW and dinner at Tonic in Millthorpe, near Orange, NSW – our latest wine and food obsession.”
You have an hour to spare and a laptop. What websites will you be surfing? “Ten songs that saved your life, Boxfresh, The Goods Tube, Nowness, Thisispaper."
Your favourite apps? “Most of my apps are used for child minding! But, if I get a chance, I’ll check up Outcast Editions.”
What’s the style of your home interior? “It’s an uncluttered aesthetic, but rich materially – perhaps a bit rustic.”
What’s the best bargain buy for the home? “An Artek stool. We have so many in different sizes and colours. They can be used as chairs, coffee tables, side tables, kids tables etc.”
What’s a great colour scheme? “White and black… with natural materials like timber, stone and concrete.”
Got any affordable decorating tricks? “Paint everything white! Then add colour in a restrained and disciplined way.”
What are your go-to online shopping sites? “Great Dane Furniture and Workshopped.”
