String of fairy lights
Add a little Christmas twinkle to your room with a string of egg-carton lights draped over the bedhead. Who knew recycling could be so much fun?
Step 1
Collect bases of several cardboard egg cartons. Make sure you choose cartons with high cup peaks. If you like, use different brands to mix up the colours.
Step 2
With scissors, cut away excess cardboard surrounding cup peaks. Cut out each separate cup then trim edges to form “flower petals”.
Step 3
Decorate cups by carefully piercing holes with a pin, in any pattern you like. Use a skewer to make the holes larger. This will allow more light to shine through.
Step 4
Repeat this process at end of eggcup flowers where lightbulb will be inserted. You may need to use scissors to make this hole larger.
Step 5
Spray-paint eggcup flowers if desired. We chose to keep ours “au naturel”.
Step 6
Insert fairy lights into holes at ends of eggcup flowers and hang over your bed.
