Materials
Old chair
Sandpaper
Handsaw
Damp cloth
Painter's tape
Paintbrush & paint - 2 colours
Drill & drill bit slightly larger than the knob screw
Silicone or super glue
2 decorative knobs
Use bold contrasting paint colours to transform a boring old chair into a fab feature. And coordinate the knobs to add the perfect finishing touch.
Sand chair with sandpaper to remove old varnish or lacquer. Cut any knobs off chair with handsaw and wipe down.
Tape up parts of chair you wish to paint in your highlight colour (we chose yellow). Paint the remainder of chair in other colour and allow to dry. Once dry, tape up freshly painted parts and paint remaining areas in your highlight colour.
When chair is completely dry, drill holes into the top of each side of chair for the two knobs to sit in. Make sure holes are in the centre and use a drill bit slightly bigger than the screw.
Fill holes with silicone or glue and place knobs in holes. Allow to dry.
