Materials
Variety of metal or timber canisters
Drill & drill bits
Selection of decorative knobs
Washers & bolts
Sharp pliers or angle grinder
Silicone
This is a novel way to update all styles and shapes of canisters. Fill with homebaked treats or looseleaf tea and it will make a lovely gift idea, too.
Mark the centre of canister lid and drill a hole with a drill bit only slightly larger than the knob screw.
Place knob screw through canister lid hole and secure with washer and bolt.
You may need to trim length of screw with sharp pliers or an angle grinder.
For food storage, add some silicone to the underside of the knob (underneath canister lid) to keep airtight.
Repeat with remaining canisters.
