Materials
Fabric of choice
Save-A-Stitch adhesive hemming tape, $6.99 for 15m, Spotlight
Iron with steam control
2 lengths of dowel, cut 10cm longer than the width of your wallhanging
Scissors
String & hook
A fabric wallhanging makes a great bedhead and it's easily changed and affordable, too, so you can update the look of your bedroom in an instant.
Step 1
Measure the height of your wall and width of your bed to decide what size fabric you will need. We used a piece 1.4m wide x 1.5m high.
Step 2
Place hemming tape on the side edges of the fabric and fold over to create a hem. Using a hot iron with steam, iron over folded fabric to secure hem. Make sure hemming tape doesn't move between fabric.
Step 3
Once both sides have been hemmed, place dowel on top of fabric and fold fabric over to create a tube. Apply hemming tape to top edge of fabric and iron in place, leaving enough space for dowel to slide in and out.
Step 4
Trim bottom of fabric to desired length, and repeat hemming process using a dowel to weigh down and straighten out bottom of wallhanging.
Step 5
Tie a length of string at two points on both ends of the dowel.
Step 6
Hang fabric wallhanging from a hook above bed. Voila!
