Old timber fence palings

You may need: drop saw, handsaw and drill
Bring the outdoors inside with rustic timber fence palings. With a light sand and a lick of paint, they make a gorgeous tabletop. A great way to recycle old wood, too!
Step 1
Sand and prepare table legs and wipe off dust with damp cloth.
Step 2
Paint table legs with undercoat and leave to dry. Apply 2 coats of paint in your chosen colour. We painted ours black.
Step 3
Measure fence palings to ensure they fit your tabletop. You may need to trim to size using a drop saw or handsaw.
Step 4
Paint fence palings in different colours to create a stripe pattern when put together. Let dry.
Step 5
Arrange fence palings on table to ensure they fit correctly, then nail in place. (You should be able to use existing holes from the fence, or pre-drill holes in the fence palings to make it easier to hammer nails into table.) Done!
