Materials
Glass-topped table
Sandpaper
Cloth
Undercoat & paint
Window frosting
Spray bottle filled with water & 2 drops dishwashing detergent
Credit card or similar
Utility knife
Revamp a tired glass-topped table with pretty window frosting.
Step 1
Sand table legs to smooth out any old varnish or paint, then wipe down with a damp cloth.
Step 2
Paint legs with undercoat. When dry, apply 2 coats of paint. Allow to dry between coats.
Step 3
Clean glass with soapy water. Ensure no lint or dust is left on the glass.
Step 4
Follow instructions that are included with window film. Place window film on a flat surface and slowly peel off thicker backing paper. Use spray bottle with water and detergent to liberally spray the glass and exposed surface of the film. Lightly spray your hands to stop the film sticking.
Step 5
Carefully pick up window film, ensuring the sticky side faces away from you, then slide into position on the glass.
Step 6
Use cloth and credit card to carefully smooth over the surface of the window film – from the centre outwards – to get rid of bubbles. Wipe away excess water and allow to dry overnight.
Step 7
Spray application paper and carefully remove, making sure the design is stuck to the glass.
Step 8
Trim around edges with a sharp utility knife blade.
Step 9
Flip glass upside down so the film is on the underside of the table. This will protect the film from hot teapots, spills, etc.
