Upcycle an old timber pallet into a set of cool rustic display shelves.
Step 1
Find a small, lightweight pallet. Place on a bench with the top (the side with the most slats) facing down.
Step 2
To create two separate "shelves" of equal size, use handsaw to cut through the three vertical cross bars just after the second timber slat at the top of the pallet. Repeat at the bottom of pallet.
Step 3
To make shelf bases, measure length and depth of the bottom of pallet halves. Cut two pieces of plywood to size. Screw securely in place.
Step 4

Step 5
Depending on the pallet weight, the weight the shelves will be taking, and your wall material, choose a suitable fixing to attach shelves to wall (ask for advice at your local hardware store). With help from a friend, secure shelves to wall. Arrange and display favourite books, mags, vases...
