Create a cool designer-look wall storage system with ply boxes & paint!
Step 1
Assemble Ikea "Pränt" boxes following instructions (the lids will not be required). You can use any boxes for this project, just make sure they're made from a lightweight material such as plywood.
Step 2
Arrange boxes face up on the floor to get a feel for how you would like the box display to look on your wall.
Step 3
Measure the total height and width of your arrangement to ensure it is the correct size for your wall space. Take a photo so you can easily recall your chosen layout.
Step 4
Choose different paint colours for your boxes. We painted the insides, but you could leave some boxes natural, or paint the outside of some and the inside of others. You may need to stick masking tape along the edges of the boxes to achieve a neat finish. Leave to dry.
Step 5
Using the measurements of your box arrangement from step 3, mark the position of the lower boxes from the height of your desk. Drill at least two screws through the box into the wall (one on the top left side and one on the right side of your box). You can touch up the screws with paint after, or leave as is for a more industrial look.
Step 6
Working your way from the bottom of the arrangement up, use screws to fix all boxes securely to your wall. As a cute finishing touch, attach together with bulldog clips (we used gold clips for added impact). Now, arrange your items inside the boxes.
