In our March 2011 issue you'll find our story "Snip Tuck - Easy-Peasy Fabric Ideas", featuring cool and very do-able projects, plus inspiring moodboards. But that's not all! Check out these other great ways to use remnants of fabric you may have at home.

Note: If you're not big on sewing, fabric glue (such as Bostik Sew No More) is an effective and easy way to get fabric to stick to other pieces of fabric (for example, making a hem). You can't use it for 100% nylon or polyester, though. You can stick fabric to wooden items with wood glue.

For the table

Napkins can be made easily - all you need to do is cut to size and hem. And remember, they don't all have to match. A mix of patterns can look great.

The same goes for napkin ties - just cut to size and secure with buttons or oversized safety pins. These can be left unhemmed if you like.

Cut out fabric coasters and glue or stitch to felt.

Make a tablerunner from contrasting panels of fabric.

Line a tray with fabric cut to size, or pieces stitched together.

Kitchen

Jazz up jars and tins by wrapping in fabric and tying with string. A cute country-cottagy look.

For a party, wrap cupcakes in strips of pretty fabric and arrange on a tray.

Living room

Cover plain lampshades in an attractive fabric.

Arrange fabric pattern-side out in a large glass vase. Then pop a smaller vase inside it, which you can fill with flowers and water.

Bedroom

Cover bedheads in fabric for an instant decor update. You can even make your own bedhead using MDF cut to size, covered in fabric and secured with a staplegun.

Cover drawer knobs in fabric.

Make bunting and hang on the wall.

Dress up old boxes with fabric - great for storing kids' toys.

Bathroom

Wrap plain bars of soap in fabric and tie with string - lovely for a guest bathroom.

Home office

Cover a cork noticeboard in fabric - it'll look better and you'll still be able to pin things up.

Craft

Decorate homemade greeting cards with fabric shapes, ribbons, twine, yarn… Do the same with shipping tags for your own bespoke gift tags.

Use fabric to wrap presents.

Create your own artworks by stretching fabric over inexpensive canvas frames. Or put fabric into photo frames.
