Paint
We have a blond brick home that the previous owner painted dark green about 15 years ago. The paint is now faded, patchy and powdery to the touch. Can we paint over it in a colour of our choice?
There's no need to fear repainting as modern exterior paints are extremely durable and, thanks to inbuilt primers, give excellent coverage with one coat. (You will need to apply a second coat, however, if you want to paint a lighter colour over the dark green.) To prepare, wash down the walls with sugar soap, using water under pressure, and scrub any stained problem areas with a stiff broom. You'll find a high-pressure cleaner makes the job easier. Bunnings sells Kärcher high-pressure cleaners from $99. Alternatively, rent one from an equipment hire company.
