A 1950s light, airy and spacious modernist home, surrounded by a magnificent garden, ticks all the boxes for a young family.

Summer lovin'
In the hallway the Max Dupain prints capture the essence of summer, which homeowners Natasha (Tash) and Daniel Dumais love. The Eames Hang-It-All and the Aero "News" rack reflect a love for colour and for typography. The mid-century sideboard is from Angelucci 20th Century, and the table and chairs from Tongue & Groove. "Chairs neatly tuck into the side of the table so the edge is flush," Tash says. "It looks amazing and is highly functional... brilliant design."

Point of view
The family never tires of sitting on the sofa and enjoying the view of the garden through the expanse of windows, Tash says. "It's amazing to watch the trees change with each season and the vantage point offers us the perfect seat for the most beautiful sunsets. Hands down, it's my favourite room in the house!" The sofa is from Sacha and the rocking moose, Ikea.

Colouring in
The neutral colour palette offsets the bright Eero Aarnio puppy and artworks, including the David Band oil above the fireplace and the French poster from Vintage Posters Only. "The poster complements the era of the house," Tash says. (Ameublement means furniture in French.) "The bold graphic colours were also a drawcard as a hero piece for our lounge room." Tash and Daniel designed the large storage drawer, which is handy for toys. The vintage coffee table is from Melbourne's 84 Smith Street.
