I've nearly finished redecorating my 10-year-old son's bedroom but I can't find a suitable night-light. The ones I've seen are either boring or too cute. Can you help?

You probably wouldn't think of a candle as being a safe night-light, and rightly so, but the flameless candles – ones that look like real candles but use LED technology for the 'flame' – on the market make perfect night-lights. Buy one with a timer, which is usually set for four hours, and the candle will give out a soft, reassuring glow while your son drifts off to sleep. Not all flameless candles are the same, however.
