We're renovating our kitchen but the choices are proving overwhelming. Could you suggest some modestly priced, effective and interesting splashback options?
For an original approach, you could go for one of the new chalkboard paints – try a gorgeous cherry shade if you feel brave, or a soft neutral. You can have fun with this finish and use the splashback to make notes or write out menus. Expect the same wearability as a flat acrylic paint. Other options include metal sheeting and engineered polymer panels such as Akril. Developed as an alternative to painted glass, Akril is an environmentally friendly material, that comes in a range of groovy colours. Pressed-metal panels are another option, and a good way to add subtle texture and pattern. "They need to be powdercoated when used for a kitchen splashback," says Amanda Carter, Product and Sales Assistant at Pressed Tin Panels. "We offer three different designs and colours can be customised to suit." Check out the colours and designs online.
