The key to mixing your styles is to let your partner's minimalist approach be the backdrop to your eclectic pieces. For instance, use signature crafty pieces (such as an appliqué cushion) or a rustic farmyard relic against a background of crisp white walls and a dark timber floor. If you don't already have them, buy a modern sofa and contemporary artworks and mix them with pieces like a vintage ottoman or easy chair that have the same accent colours – the colour scheme will link all the elements. Choose a timber dining table and combine it with sleek modern metal or acrylic chairs.
