Real Living recipe for Ultimate cheeseburger
INGREDIENTS
600g chuck steak, minced (ask your butcher for about 90g of pork fat to be included)
Salt & ground black pepper
4 slices of Gruyère cheese
Baby spinach leaves
4 burger buns, halved (we used sourdough rolls)
Caramelised onion jam (

METHOD
Season beef well with salt and pepper and shape into 6 patties, slightly smaller than buns.
Preheat hotplate or grill to medium-high heat. Cook patties for 2 to 3 mins on each side, or until cooked to your liking.
Place cheese slice on each patty and cook until melted slightly. Meanwhile, place baby spinach leaves on bun bases.
Remove patties from heat and immediately transfer to bun bases so not a drop of juice is lost.
Spoon onion jam on each cheese-topped patty. Top with second half of bun and enjoy!
Tip
This simple burger recipe relies entirely on using the best possible ingredients, starting with the meat. Ask your butcher to mince chuck steak and add a little pork fat. You don’t need to add anything else, except seasoning.
