Be sympathetic to your home's character

The trouble with 19th century weatherboard cottages is that most were built to shut out light, and for this reason our old house ceased to be comfortable. Things were getting tough in the space stakes too... We had already tried 'open plan' with a renovation years earlier but discovered open plan design best suits families with young children. These days we want our own private spaces.
