Waz made the point of introducing their master bedroom as 'The winning room". And well-deserved the title was.
Polly immediately pointed out the dominant feature: "We used the two windows to maximum effect. We wanted to get the most out of all this natural light."
Wazza was understandably proud of the enormous bedside storage and shelving unit: "And why not? I build it myself and the judges thought it had some real wow factor. I particularly like the gloss white finish. It reallycatches the light, from any angle."
In order to maintain that high-end luxury feel the couple included an armchair in the room, a worthwhile touch.
Polly explained the colour palette: " We were careful to select colours that worked in sympathy with the windows and their dressing. I think the effect really worked. We're very proud of the whole room — it's nice, simple and elegant, with lots of storage."
Again John and Neale were wowed by what greeted them. John instantly saw buyer appeal: "This couple have really picked themselves up. They are definitely back in the game. I like the sense of space and light, and let's not forget this excellent storage."
Neale picked up on that last theme: "Yes, the unit over the bed is inspired, a great inclusion. It would have been so simple to just put ordinary bedside tables in. This larger unit takes the room to a whole new level."
Both judges also loved the wall-art: a framed photo looking up the Yarra river, very sympathetic to the view from the windows.
John, always looking for that thing that might put potential buyers off only had this to say: "If I had to pick one thing it would be that the curtains are perhaps a bit too dark, but that's the easiest of things to change, and is no deal-breaker."

It was obvious Polly was quietly pleased and confident about their en suite: "I really like the double vanity up here. It matches the one we put downstairs. It's important for two people to have their own space. And it goes well against the enormous mirror."
The sense of space they created was instantly apparent and Waz explained how: "We were careful to keep the storage out of the way — by using these under vanity drawers."
Polly explained how they managed to include such a large bath: "We took out the linen cupboard to make space for a full bath and separate shower. I love the maximum functionality up here."
Waz was also very happy with the glass splash back: "I wanted consistency and it matches the one we put in downstairs."
When John entered the en suite he beamed: "This couple have come a long way. This en suite has real character, and soul. It's also an exceptional use of available space"
Both judges appreciated how well-planned the en suite presented. John McGrath: "They have really lifted their game. I know I said before they seem to have their mojo back. This en suite proves it. I really like this double-vanity. It's a great plus in such a small upstairs space, precisely what will excite buyers."
But John did find one nagging failure: "They have still failed to take things all the way to the ceiling. It may cost them a point."
In spite of that the series' least experienced renovators have good reason to be pleased.
