With another room delivery fast approaching, none of the contestants got much sleep.
Waz burned the midnight oil: "I put up insulation batts until past midnight. I wanted to be sure the next day there was nothing in the tradies' way. Our budget and our schedule is way too tight to have them wasting time clearing away obstacles.".
Rod and Tania made a big call — tiling from the front door right through to the back. Rod spent every free moment helping with Gyprock: "I gotta help my plasterer get these massive sheets hung so I can give myself as much time as possible for all this tiling."
And like clockwork, Jenna and Josh argued. What about doesn't seem to matter, but in this instance, it was over colour — whether charcoal is like navy blue or not.
In house three, the sisters, as usual, were behind schedule and trying to hurry their tradies along. Amie stayed calm: "It's the story of our lives, the first few days nothing happens, then wham — it's all go."
Just as they thought they were back on track their plasterer called Katrina to say he can't make it: "nothing's ever easy on The Block." You think?
This was a problem for site manager Keith: "They're not managing their trades well, not giving people notice when they change their minds. They might have to do some of their own plastering."
The sisters weren't the only couple feeling the love from Keith. With a sea of tiling before him Rod didn't want any interruptions. But that's exactly what Keith had in mind: "In their previous week's delivery Rod and Tania had a massive solid stone bath. It's great but I told Rod the flooring joists supporting it must be reinforced. Well it can't wait any longer. It's gotta be done now."
So, Rod has to put in the extra joists, but he was desperate to finish with noise restrictions fast approaching.
