Scott Cam was all smiles when he met the couples at his workshop, telling them they'd be competing for the biggest prize in the history of The Block, provided by Domain..
The winning team would score a massive advertising and marketing campaign in print and online for three weeks, worth $15,000: "It could be the difference between winning and losing The Block," Scotty explained.
To win the prize the couples had to create a marketing campaign, then pitch it to 100 genuine buyers at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
With the help of their agents, the couples got started on wording, pictures, brochures, and strategy. Amie was enthusiastic as hell: "The agents want to win as well so they'll do the best they can for us. This will be awesome, and it doesn't involve a paintbrush."
Photographers were all over the houses endeavouring to capture each property in its best possible light.
Waz was all smiles: "Polly's from a marketing background and I'm from PR and advertising. This is the first challenge where our skills could give us an advantage."
The couples gathered at Jeff's Shed, the affectionate name Victorians give to The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Scotty met the couples in the foyer: "Are you ready? Because I've got 100 very keen buyers waiting upstairs for you." Each couple presented their properties to best of their abilities and the guests were certainly enthusiastic.
At the end of the presentations the 100 guests made their decisions by ticking just one of four boxes.
At the end of the night the couple who won the fantastic $15,000, three-week marketing and advertising package from Domain was Polly and Waz.
Polly and Waz's advertising and marketing experience finally really proved its worth in this crucial challenge. But the houses still needed to be finished, so it was back to the last part of their renovations.
