Although Neil Whitaker said there room had serious 'Wow factor', the judges weren't won over by Brad and Lara's ensuite.
"The tiles on the floor are the cheapest, nastiest tiles," judge Shaynna Blaze pointed out during Room Reveal.
But despite these comments, Brad and Lara are sticking with their choice.
"I wanted white tiles," Lara explains. "And they weren’t cheap! We spent a lot trying to clean them – I don't know [why they hated them]."
In fact, the couple have no idea why they lost out on their first room win to Mike and Andrew – especially as the boys didn’t present a totally finished room.
"We are really happy with our room – we absolutely love it!" Brad says.
"This is one of the rooms we earmarked that we really wanted to try and win. We put all our ideas in this one room, so to not win is disappointing."
The couple went out on a limb, presenting a walk-in robe rather than fitted wardrobes. It was a risky strategy, but one they say they’re pleased they managed to execute.
"We changed the whole layout of the room," Brad says. "We said before we came in that we weren’t going to second-guess the judges. If we owned it, we were going to do what we would normally do. We're doing things because we like it, and hopefully that comes across."
What they love: Their custom-built walk-in robe and their window treatments, "We have electrical blinds," says Brad excitedly.
What they did best: "We can't be judged on space, but I think we used it well," says Lara.
Finishing touches: The couple went out of their way to make sure they had everything finished to a high standard. "Brad spent a lot of time putting our towel rails on, making sure we had a finished room," Lara says.
