When Scotty called time on this week's rooms, Dani and Dan thought they were in with a real chance. Now that some time has passed, they realise their rooftop terrace and study area was no match for the winning room this week.
"From the feedback, I realised we didn't have a chance," Dan admits. "Then, when we went and did the walk-throughs, we both understood — next door deserved it by a mile. Dale and Sophie's was pretty good too. That's the way it should have been, so no complaints here."
Despite the fact they came third, both Dan and Dani were pleased with the way everything came together. The judges, too, had a lot of positive things to say about their use of the two spaces.
"I like the fact it's actually a useable room," John McGrath commented when he saw their study nook.
"It's like a private sanctuary. I can actually imagine myself sitting up here working," Neale added.
Shaynna also liked what they had done, but pointed out some of the less practical aspects.
"Because this is classified as a study, they haven't left any room to put in any storage space of any description. Imagine if they had shelving all the way up?" she pointed out.
"We will need to go back and find a happy medium," Dani admits now, adding that they already have plans to return their study desk and add more storage.
"Stegbar are going to come in and build a linen cupboard and a desk," she explains.
She also admits they are keen to rethink their outdoor space after this week's judges comments.
"To me it feels like they have plonked everything down and not had enough time to really think things through," Shaynna pointed out.
