Presented: Main bedroom and living/dining room Score: 70/100 Prize: $4,000 off their reserve
True to form, the boys struggled to finish in time, even though some would argue they scored two of the easiest rooms in the house. But, despite their last-minute mad-dash, and their somewhat-questionable styling choices, they still managed to present two top-quality rooms.
"It was a tough week. We had to style a master, living and dining and they are three rooms that are going to cost a lot in styling," Mike explains. "It was very expensive to get couches and dining tables and bed linen. We spent almost $9000 out of $10,000 just on furnishing."
Despite the hefty price tag, the judges were left a little underwhelmed — particularly by how they brothers dressed the rooms.
"I'm not big on the furniture," Shaynna admitted on stepping into their master bedroom.
"I think they have lost the whole 'less is more' thing in the final week," John added.
"There is everything — even cushions in the fireplaces!"
Mike admits they may be right, but points out that there just wasn't enough fuel left in the tank this week to do things the way they would have liked. And, quite simply, they ran out of time.
"We didn't think we would win this week, because we didn't complete everything," he admits. "We didn't do the bed properly. That artwork behind the bed should have been higher so it’s not sitting on the pillows... we weren’t too happy with the dressing of the room in here."
But despite their hiccups, it hasn't dampened their excitement for Sunday's auction.
"I think we have delivered a really great house, so that gives us confidence going into the auction," Mike says.
