They lost by just half a point, and now, Sophie and Dale are wondering whether it could have been because they decided to dedicate a whole room to dining.
"We didn't expect to win, but then to lose by half a point – that was tough," Sophie says. "It's hard now, because we think that half a point may have come from the real estate judge who might have thought we should have done a fourth bedroom."
And now it's got them thinking.
"They all liked it, but now we're torn about whether or not we did the right thing. We'll have to wait and see," says Sophie.
Doubts aside, both agree they've ended up presenting a really special room.
"We're happy with the way it turned out," says Dale.
"We wanted to keep the style older, like the house," Sophie adds. "There were so many things we could have done. But we also wanted to make it a bit edgier and a bit more modern – that's why we went for the funky table."
And although they admit they're unsure about their decision to present a dining room, they're hoping that, in context, everything will end up making sense.
"We wanted to have a space where everyone could eat," says Dale. "When you look at our extension plans, there's not a lot of space for that. We'll be interested to see what the others are going to do, spatially."
Their favourite thing: The 'Jaralier'! "When I was planning our wedding I saw the jar light on a blog and thought it was a good idea. I didn't know if I'd be able to find any jars, but then when I did, I got very excited," says Sophie.
What they’d do differently: "We could have got better chairs, I think," says Dale, reflecting the Judges' comments. "We will probably replace them if we win some money. The judges said they weren't for a million-dollar buyer."
