They put their heart and soul into this week's room, so to lose by just one point to Brad and Lara this week was disappointing for Sophie and Dale. Their impractical use of space in the study area may have cost them a win, but the couple are still glad they did things their way.
"There's such a great view. The level of the window is that perfect sitting height, so we knew it had to be something like a study," Sophie explains. "There was a laundry option, but we thought, 'No! We need a study somewhere.' And there's a couch and a second telly if people want some chill time. So it works on a number of levels."
The judges, however, weren't so sure.
"I think they have gone for too many things. I think they thought, 'If we throw lots of different things in, maybe the judges will like it and see it as a flexible space,'" judge John McGrath commented.
They did, however, fall in love with their open and relaxing rooftop chill-out area, which showcased the pair's trademark quirkiness.
"Between them, they loved the rooftop — there was nothing negative from that. They said it was a 'near-perfect space,'" Sophie says proudly.
Sophie and Dale went to town, providing potential buyers with a comfy lounge area, a bar area to sit at, complete with painted stools — and views to die for.
