With half their houses complete, and half to go, the contestants are starting to feel demotivated. Although they've achieved so much already — there's still so much to do!
"We feel really flat this week," Dan admits. "It's hard to get motivated. Everything is taking its toll. I just don't want to put my tool belt on this week. I have gone really hard for all the weeks we've been here — that's five weeks now! My body just needs a rest."
Brad agrees: "I find I'm procrastinating a lot more. Like, I'll go, 'We need to start painting,' and whereas in the first few weeks I would have been straight downstairs, getting the gear and straight back up, now it's taking me a lot longer."
Neither of them are sure whether it's just sheer exhaustion, or because they can't yet see that the end is in sight.
"Whether it's the novelty of the whole thing wearing off, and realising you're just grinding it out, or whether it's the whole lack of sleep thing catching up with us — I don't know," Brad admits.
"We have hit a wall," Sophie adds. "This week especially."
But despite their fatigue everyone admits they wouldn’t trade their Block experience for anything — and wouldn't dream of walking away now.
"That's giving up," says Dan. "The hard thing is, being your own builder, everything is always going through your head. There are so many details..."
"Yes, but everyone has that," Dani counters. "We all have that this year, and last year, Rod had all that to deal with too."
"We can all complain and be dramatic," Sophie adds, "But we still love it."
