After their return to The Block for the Big Fat Block Wedding challenge, we catch up with last year's most... animated couple, Josh and Jenna to talk renovations, rivalries, and who they think has the goods (and the house) to win The Block.
Since their Block house sold for a whopping $1 million, life has been pretty hectic for the newlyweds. They started their own property styling business Bicker Designs Co. and are renovating their new home — on top of that, Josh works full-time, and Jenna is halfway through her first year of an interior design course.
"That was the best thing that came from The Block, I think," Jenna tells us, "I came to realise what I wanted to do with my life."
They might be renovating their new home, but they're not quite ready to call it their dream home... Josh sees it as a "stepping stone", but that's not to say they haven't undertaken a massive renovation project to rival The Block...
"It's basically a 110-year-old little Victorian house, and we're going through the process of getting it sub-divided," Josh tells us. "We've got plans at Council at the moment, which is pretty exciting. We're looking to split the block in half and build a house at the back, early-to-mid next year."
And with their fledgling company called Bicker Designs Co., we just had to ask... Do they still bicker on the job?
Jenna laughs. "No, we're usually pretty professional on the job," she says. "We bicker on the way to the job."
Fans of last year's Block were treated to a reunion of sorts, with Josh and Jenna joining Polly and Waz for one of Shelley's high-stakes challenges.
"The wedding challenge was so fun. It was good to go back and not have to stress about the money, but I reckon, halfway through it, we started feeling for the couples, because we know what it's like to have no money on The Block, so we really wanted to win it for them," Josh says.
"It sort of made us miss it, you know? And it absolutely stirred up old rivalries," Jenna adds with a laugh. "Look, you know, it was fun to go up against Polly and Waz... It was a bit of fun rivalry."
Fun as it may have been, Jenna's not too keen to have a crack at The Block again...
"I'd do it again for sure," Josh says, "but I know Jenna's a bit iffy about it."
Jenna laughs. "I always say, 'I'd need a holiday first,' and I haven't had that yet..."
"I would love to redo it and just present something completely different to show our versatility," Josh says.
As for Jenna, she's comfortable just watching the new series unfold on TV.
"It's good, sitting at home being able to watch it, not being on the other end of it," Jenna says.
As for who they think will win, the newlyweds are split.
"I think Brad and Lara," Jenna says.
"I reckon Sophie and Dale," Josh says, "because they've got the corner block and I think their house is really cool."
